CV/Resume

CV or resume should be up to date. Most applicants choose to submit one to two pages reflecting academic, personal, and professional experiences relevant to the study of global migration and policy.

Statement of Purpose*

Statement of Purpose* may be up to three pages in length.

The statement should include the following:

  • your interest and purpose in pursuing the M.A. in Migration Studies,
  • how the program fits into your academic and professional goals,
  • how you will contribute to the program and class dynamics.

*Please note that on the application portal, the statement of purpose is referred to as the "essay" requirement.

Letter of Recommendation

One letter of recommendation is required. Reference must be from an academic source.

Official Academic Transcripts
  • Applicants must submit official copies of transcripts from all accredited post-secondary academic institutions attended (undergraduate transcripts and if relevant graduate transcripts).
  • Transcripts must be sent by your alma mater either in a sealed envelope or electronically. Transcripts sent in by the student are not considered official transcripts. Original transcripts should be sent to the Tel Aviv University International New York Office at the following address:

TAU International
Office of Academic Affairs

39 Broadway, 15th Floor
New York, NY 10006 USA

  • All transcripts will be forwarded to the University Registrar, who will review the following: the accreditation of the applicant's alma mater; the successful completion of an academic degree; and the corresponding cumulative grade point average (GPA) in the Israeli grading scale.

GPA Requirements

  • The minimum cumulative GPA for undergraduate transcripts is 80 on the Israeli grading scale, or its equivalent (e.g. 3.0 on the American 4.0 scale).
  • Applicants with a cumulative GPA found to be below the program's minimum requirement, as evaluated by the Registrar, may still be considered. Applicants in this category are strongly encouraged to submit additional documentation supporting their candidacy, including but not limited to an explanation of previous academic performance.
  • For an unofficial conversion of your undergraduate GPA, visit http://www.foreigncredits.com/Resources/GPA-Calculator/. Only the evaluation provided by Tel Aviv University's Registrar will be considered in reviewing an application.

Transcripts in languages other than English

  • If your transcripts are not written in English, you may need to acquire a translated copy. Submit your official transcript following the above guidelines, and the program will notify you if your transcript requires translation. In this case, the translated copy will need to be notarized for authenticity.

Transcript FAQs

  • If you studied in more than one academic institution during the course of obtaining your undergraduate degree, be sure to submit a copy of your academic transcripts from each individual institution.
  • If applying with incomplete transcripts (for example, during the final semester of your academic degree) you may send in a copy. However, upon graduation, final official transcripts must be sent from your university indicating your final GPA and confirmation of graduation.
Diploma

Applicants must submit a copy of diploma(s) earned at accredited institutions of higher education. A scan or photocopy is sufficient for application purposes. However, note that you will need to present your original diploma to Tel Aviv University at the start of the program.

TOEFL or IELTS exam scores*
  1. All applicants who are from non-English speaking countries/non-native speakers of English must provide proof of English proficiency:
    a) through test scores on IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge exams.
