Field Work

Some of our projects last year included:

Chennai Water Monitoring

Access to safe drinking water remains a global challenge affecting 1 in 4 people worldwide. To address this, the partnership between TAU and IITM University has emerged. This alliance is on a mission to equip students across Chennai with the skills to monitor and enhance drinking water quality in their communities. Embarking on an urban exploration, the objective was to track and analyze the distribution of drinking water across the city and evaluate its quality within households, exploring both physical parameters and behavioral aspects and perceptions.

Wastewater Project in Punjab

In rural Punjab, a silent crisis looms. Villages struggle with untreated wastewater, which, flowing through open-air drains, stagnates in community centers. This not only poses severe health risks but also damages the fragile ecosystem. This research project confronts this challenge head-on with the goal of treating and reusing this wastewater, transforming a hazard into a resource.

Agri-Impact Project in Maharashtra

This project’s vision is the creation of a Public-Private-Philanthropic-Academic partnership to drive positive environmental, economical, and social change. The project aimed to design and implement a pilot with innovative agritech Israeli startups, in this case NOF - Natural Offset Farming. The on-ground pilot in Maharashtra, India, aimed at implementing NOF's cooling technology using CO2 to enhance the shelf life of vegetables, yielded promising results. The increase in shelf life, higher quality, and reduction of waste observed during the pilot underscored the potential of this technology to revolutionize farming practices and improve livelihoods. We look forward to scaling and expanding our efforts across India and the world.

This year

We will continue with the aforementioned projects in different scales and locations. Additionally, we are happy to share that, in partnership with the Brazilian NGO Gerando Falcões we are carrying on a new project to address housing, WASH and education challenges in Brazilian favelas. The goal of this project is to help proven solutions from the Israeli innovation ecosystem reach Brazil, accessing the market and driving sustainable development.
