Shlomit Perry has been the director of the Library of Social Sciences and Management since 2009.
She received a BA (with honors) in general history and in the history of the Jewish people from Haifa University and an MA in Information Studies from Hebrew University.
Between the years 1990 – 2009 she served in various capacities in the Library of Social Sciences and Management, with an emphasis on setting up and managing computerized databases, as well as promoting and managing computerized reference and instruction services for the students and researchers. She also held various professional positions on a national level, among them head of national reference committee of the Israeli universities and as a member of the database acquisition committee of Malmad (Inter-University Center for Digital Information Services).
Shlomit is very active in the academic information world in Israel, and represents Tel-Aviv University on the standing committee of the directors of Israeli academic libraries and on the steering committee of MALMAD. She is on the board of directors of the National Library, and over the last few years, she has been an active member of the content committee of "Infomedia", the leading information conference in Israel.
Shlomit lectures at many professional conference on the subjects of the renewed academic library and library management, and also represents Tel-Aviv University at many professional conferences here and abroad.
Shlomit has been leading, since the beginning of her directorship of the library, a revolution in the place of the renewed academic library. In the framework of this revolution, an extensive renovation of the library was undertaken, the results of which created a diverse range of library learning spaces, which answer the new learning needs of the students. As part of this procedure, Shlomit led the unification of the School of Education library with the Library of Social Sciences and management.
Shlomit is married to Amir and the mother of Omer and Niv.
