Short Biography

Dr. Assaf Ramot completed his Ph.D. at the Weizmann Institute of Science under the mentorship of Prof. Alon Chen, where he investigated the neural and endocrine pathways that mediate stress-related responses. He then pursued postdoctoral research with Prof. Takaki Komiyama at the University of California, San Diego, where he explored the neural mechanisms of motor learning. In 2025, Dr. Ramot joined the School of Psychological Sciences as a faculty member.

Fields of Interest

Dr. Ramot’s research explores how complex experiences and internal states—particularly stress—shape the brain circuits underlying learning and behavior. He investigates the principles by which the brain’s central stress axis operates, and how chronic stress affects these mechanisms as well as the neural circuits involved in learning complex motor skills. His lab uses cutting-edge in vivo imaging techniques to record and manipulate neural activity in behaving animals.
