Prof. Boaz Barak is an Associate Professor at the School of Psychological Sciences and the Sagol School of Neuroscience at Tel Aviv University. His research focuses on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism and Williams syndrome, with an emphasis on the role of myelination and social behavior abnormalities.
He completed his postdoctoral research at MIT in the lab of Prof. Guoping Feng, where he studied the neurobiological basis of social behavior deficits. Prof. Barak earned his Ph.D. in Neurosciences from Tel Aviv University, focusing on learning, memory, and synaptic plasticity. Earlier in his career, he participated in research on addiction at the Weizmann Institute and learning abilities at UC Berkeley. He holds a B.Sc. in Biology with distinction from Tel Aviv University.
Through his work, Prof. Barak aims to bridge fundamental neuroscience with potential therapeutic strategies, while contributing to the broader understanding of neurodevelopmental disorders.
