M.A. in Conflict Resolution and Mediation Announces Improvements to its Curriculum

Starting for the 2016/2017 academic year, the MA Program in Conflict Resolution and Mediation announced a number of improvements it made to the program's curriculum. The developments were made to better serve students in cultivating an understanding of what conflict is all about, and to help better train them for the competitive workforce.

Beginning in the 2016/2017 academic year, the program has added courses and course time in the practical skills of negotiation and mediation. Two classes have been added to the course listings, Advanced Negotiations and Facilitation and Consensus Building. These classes will go hand in hand, furthering what students practiced in the first semester core course of Negotiations and the Mediation Workshop which provides students with a certificate in international mediation from the university. Skills building courses woven through each semester of the program will help students advance their education and professional development.  The program has also added courses related to Global Migration and Refugees, as well as Assessment Tools in Conflict Situations to prepare students for the current realities of international conflicts.  

Along with the newly introduced courses, the program has hired a full-time professor—Dr. Nimrod Rosler—who works for both the Hebrew and English departments. Dr. Rosler has a background in social-psychology of conflicts, and teaches the class Leadership in Conflict for the International Program. On the program changes, Dr. Rosler says “the program will help students gain a thorough understanding of the field of conflict theory and conflict resolution and learn practical skills that will make them prepared for today’s quickly changing workforce.”

The program aims to keep students up-to-date with current world events while training them to deal with contemporary and future issues related to conflict and conflict resolution.
