Our team members mourns the passing of Prof. Ephraim (Eppie) Yucthman-Yaar, the co-founder of the Peace Index

Prof. Yucthman-Yaar, who earned his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, served as Head of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology between 1975–1977, and as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Tel Aviv University from 1986–1991. In 2003, he founded the Conflict Resolution and Mediation Program in Hebrew and later the international MA program in Conflict Resolution and Mediation at Tel Aviv University.
In 1994, he initiated the Peace Index together with Prof. Tamar Hermann, inspired by the first Oslo Accords signed the previous year.
Beyond his numerous academic activities and publications, Prof. Yucthman-Yaar was also engaged in applied research aimed at promoting ethnic and social equality, as well as peace and reconciliation.
