Prof. Daphna Shohamy (Columbia University) and Prof. Yaakov Trope (NYU).
Daphna Shohamy is a Professor in the department of Psychology & Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute at Columbia University. She is an Associate Director of Columbia’s Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute. Her research is focused on the intersection between learning, memory and decision making, using behavioral and neuroimaging methods in healthy individuals, and in brain damaged and psychiatric patients.
Prof. Shohamy will give a colloquium on Monday, July 11 at 12:15 “How memory guides value-based decisions”.
Yaacov Trope is a Professor of social psychology in the department of Psychology at NYU. Professor Trope's research focuses on the cognitive, motivational and affective mechanisms underlying social judgments and decisions. He has studied intuitive and analytic modes of social information processing and their consequences for judgmental bias and error. His recent work examines psychological distance effects, namely, how temporal, spatial, and social distances affect the representations of objects and, thereby, predictions, evaluations, and choice.
Prof. Trope will hold a workshop on July 24 and July 25, 10 am till 3 pm.
The title of the workshop is “The expansive and contractive mind.”
