The studies of a research student shall be comprised of two stages: Stage A and Stage B.
Stage A research student is accepted to a doctoral program and is currently preparing a research proposal.
Stage A research student expected to take courses related to her or his research (8 semester hours total, courses must be approved by doctoral advisor) and a workshop for doctoral studies.
Research proposal approved by doctoral advisor must be submitted within first year to Departmental doctoral advisory committee. Proposal accepted by departmental committee will be forwarded to Faculty and then to University doctoral advisory committees.
After approval of students' research proposal by University advisory committee student becomes Stage B research student. Students submit their dissertation within five years from acceptance to Stage A.
Student applying for the Doctoral Program in the Department of Public Policy must have obtained a university certified research track master's degree (with thesis) with a final grade of 85 or higher.
Students who obtained their degree outside the framework of the Department of Public Policy may choose one of the following:
- Register for an additional thesis track master's degree within the department, and complete ⅔ of the thesis track coursework.
- Register for an additional thesis track master's degree within the department, and complete ⅔ of the mandatory courses coursework (16 semester credit hours).
Student must submit the department's PhD Committee through the Secretariat Department the following documents:
- BA and MA transcripts.
- MA thesis (2 cop[ies)
- 2 letters of recommendation
- Registration form
